Road to Tongariro
The quickest way to get from Wellington to Tongariro is via the State Highway 1. Certainly when you get closer to Tongariro there are some pretty great views awaiting. Just take a stop along the way or go for a short hike at a random stop to soak in the natural New Zealand landscape, get your camera out and enjoy!

Waitomo caving
One of our greater adventures in New Zealand – not possible to get any pictures yourself, but the amazing staff of the Legendary Blackwater Raftering Company will be glad to help you with that! Take a look at what this adventure looks like here:

Coromandel
At Coromandel we opted for a B&B accommodation, more in particular Anton & Mary’s B&B, which was a great choice! Amazingly friendly people, top room (we had the Fern room) and the food was excellent, so a true recommendation to all! Great talk in the morning at breakfast, where Aton and Mary shared some tips with us.
First one was to get some morning fitness by walking to Mt Paku summit. Ideal to get the morning calories burned – or just a little anyway.
And afterwards we got to a nearly deserted beach a little further (by car). Perfect to strike a pose!
Cathedral Cove
The hike to Cathedral cove is fairly easy and offers great views of the Coromandel coast and cliffs all along the way to the cove itself. Don’t wait too long to start this hike, as the parking lot gets pretty cramped later in the day. You can also park at Hahei beach, which takes you about 1/2 hour extra (one way).
